   Valley of Hope Shelter & Recovery is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with deep roots in the tight-knit Lawrence community. For decades, this work has been about one thing: showing up for people when life has become unstable, overwhelming, or unsafe, -and helping them find a way forward.

   We provide shelter, recovery, trauma-informed care, and mental health services for individuals experiencing homelessness, substance or alcohol addiction, and mental health challenges. Our programs are designed to meet people where they are, while offering the structure, care, and consistency necessary to rebuild stability and hope.

   Valley of Hope offers support through multiple programs which create safe, structured environments where individuals are treated with dignity and respect—never judgment. Each person receives individualized care and support, recognizing that recovery is not one-size-fits-all and meaningful change happens at an individual pace.

   Our work supports people through early recovery and beyond. We focus on practical tools and long-term success, including relapse prevention education, life skills development, access to healthcare, and thoughtful planning for what comes next. The goal is not just stability within our programs, but confidence, independence, and self-sufficiency beyond them.

   At Valley of Hope, we do not believe people need to be fixed. They need safety, support, and the opportunity to move forward without stigma. Every step in our continuum of care is built around that belief.​
